The 3rd Visiting Workshop on Power Electronics

The 3rd Visiting Workshop on Power Electronics (VWPE) was held from 2018.08.20 to 2018.08.25. Prof. Seung-Ki Sul, Prof. Jung-Ik Ha, and 8 Ph.D. students were involved in this workshop. We visited total 4 universities in England and Germany. The universities we have visited are, by the visiting order, ‘The University of Manchester’, ‘The University of Sheffield’, ‘Aachen University of Technology’ and ‘Technical University of Munich’. Introduced by Prof. Judith Apsley, the main topics of the seminar were a multi-modular converter (MMC), motor drive and the converter with wide bandgap devices.

Greeted by Prof. Zi-Qiang Zhu, the seminar in the University of Sheffield was mostly about motor design and drive.

With the help of Prof. Rik W. De Doncker, we were also able to hold the workshop at the Aachen University of Technology. The main topics in the seminar were MMC, dual active bridge (DAB) and high power motor drive system.

In the Technical University of Munich, Prof. Ralph Kennel helps us for the workshop. In this seminar, the research topics were mostly about sensorless control.
